School of Public and Global Affairs

Since 1974, FDU’s School of Public and Global Affairs (SPGA) has prepared successful professionals who seek the rewards and challenges of a public service career. Our innovative, interdisciplinary and forward-thinking master’s programs are designed to prepare you to launch your career or assume a leadership role in the public or nonprofit sector.

As a student, you will be engaged on problem-solving teams, working on real-world projects with peers across New Jersey and the tri-state region, as well as countries around the world. Your learning experience will be enriched by classmates who bring diverse perspectives to our programs — including professionals from local, state and county government, nonprofit agencies and health care organizations, and first responders, diplomats, members of the active military and veterans.

Our faculty members hold advanced degrees from leading colleges and universities. They also include highly knowledgeable public service professionals who have extensive experience in the field. They bring both their practical knowledge and actionable insights to your classes — from UN ambassadors to directors of state and federal agencies.

Depending on your program, classes are held on FDU's four campuses worldwide, at more than 30 strategic off-site locations in New Jersey, and online via Zoom. Additionally, our graduate certificates enable you to earn valuable professional credentials which can be applied toward your degree.

Hi, I'm Dr. Peter Woolley, Director of the School of Public and Global Affairs here at Fairleigh Dickinson University. With four campuses in three countries, the US, UK and Canada, we're very proud of our graduates, and very proud of our graduate students in all of our programs; the Master of Public Administration, Master of Administrative Science, the Master of Student Services Administration, Master of Cyber and Homeland Security, and the Master of Arts in global affairs. Each of these programs is tailored to the professional. And each program is guided by faculty who are professionals and have spent a long time in the fields. Whether as Director of the Department of Labor, or as a university president, or as Commissioner of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, or working with county prosecutors, or as a UN ambassador. Our typical student has been in the workforce for several years, and now wants to rise or take charge. They work as first responders. They work in the armed forces. They work in local, state, and county governments. They work in hospitals and all kinds of nonprofits. They work in agencies from the United Nations to local food banks, and they come from all over New Jersey all over the tri-state region. And in fact, from 60 countries around the world. They like that we offer project-based learning, where they are part of a problem-solving team. They like that they can attend classes on any of our four campuses, or at an off campus site or by teleconference. They join in from around the world from Afghanistan to Timor Leste. They like that they can work with their peers directly and they like to meet students from well-- everywhere. To learn more about each of our programs, to meet our distinguished professors, and to find out about the experiences of our students-- Please join us I hope to see you to around campus.
