Hi, I'm Kate Spence. I've been at Fairleigh Dickinson University for over 10 years. And the thing I love best about being in the School of Education is the students. They're hardworking, caring, and really want to be highly-qualified teachers and educational leaders in the state of New Jersey. We also have great faculty and staff who work closely with our students. Some of the exceptional programs we offer include an accelerated five-year QUEST program for undergraduate students, leading to a Bachelor's degree in a content area and a Master of Arts in Teaching degree, a post-baccalaureate Master of Arts for teachers for those who desire initial teaching certification, an educational leadership program for those who aspire to work in administration, an EdD in Higher Education for leaders in higher education, and many programs for certified teachers who wish to pursue additional professional opportunities in literacy, special education, bilingual, and ESL education. You can select from a wide range of graduate programs that we offer. Our MAT program leads to an initial teaching certification, as well as to a Master of Arts in Teaching degree. We offer certification areas in early childhood elementary education, secondary education, including math, biology, chemistry, physics, English, social studies, world languages, and art education, as well as English as a second language. We also offer an alternate route pathway toward all of these certifications. Courses are online to allow for participation from anywhere in the state. rmact are Master of Arts for certified teachers provide professional development and advancement opportunities. Our programs include additional certifications as a literacy or reading specialist, special education or teacher of students with disabilities, technology specialist, ESL, and bilingual education. All of our MACT programs have an option for certified teachers to also earn a supervisory certificate within the degree program. Courses in these programs are available online or through a hybrid model where our faculty work with cohorts of educators in their home districts. The Educational Leadership program has three tracks, supervisor certificate, principal certificate, and an MA in Educational Leadership. Each of these programs leads one level into the next, our Dyslexia Specialist program is nationally known and considered one of the best around. We also have an EdD in Higher Education which is offered completely online through flexible interactive eight-week courses. It's designed to prepare leaders in higher education. Our initial and advanced certification programs are nationally accredited with CAPE for seven years which is the highest rating possible. Every program includes experiential work in addition to the coursework, so they're both hands-on and minds-on. They're taught by faculty scholars who have published multiple books and are world-renowned experts in their fields. We work hard to make connections between our alumni and our current students and are delighted to have a diverse student population in our programs. We continue to follow graduates in their successes. Most recently one of our School of Education graduates, Angel Santiago was named "New Jersey Teacher of the Year." We're continually impressed by the accomplishments of our alumni and how they've utilized the skills they've learned here to transform the lives of students across the nation. We encourage you to explore the School of Education at fdu.edu/education. The School of Education has a special family. Make our school your school! Looking forward to meeting you soon.
